The Hague is hosting on Wednesday a press conference on the new findings from the JJIT about the downing of the MH17 plane in 2014 in eastern Ukraine.
“Since it is currently not possible to prove the identity of the Buk TELAR crew, and other concrete information about it is lacking, it is not possible to ascertain why they fired a Buk missile at MH17, what their assignment was and what information what they have. . when they open fire,” the JIT said in a statement.
The head of the National Criminal Investigation Department, Andy Kraag, said that because the investigation was not able to find enough evidence, any other questions would have to be sought in Russia.
“The JIT investigated everything it could without the cooperation of the Russian authorities and without endangering the safety of people. Any further evidence should be sought in the Russian Federation,” Kraag said.
