A post-graduate student of dance from RLV College of Music and Fine Arts in Tripunithura, Charu Latha says she is ready to accept more offers that come her way in the film industry, but she will not give up dancing. for any reason.
He completed his studies years before coming out as transgender, and remembers being teased and ostracized by his classmates as a ‘man’.
“I finished my studies in 2015. I joined the institute as a male student. Although I had yet to express my gender identity then, my trans persona was evident through my actions. Many of my fellow students mock me,” he said.
Fighting all the odds, he managed to finish the course and get a first degree.
Charu Latha recalled that almost a decade ago, many transgender people in the state did not dare to reveal their identity.
It was only after 2017, following the successful implementation of the transgender state law, that special organizations started coming forward, he added.
