In Velachery, children were injured due to falling ceiling – case against the school management FGN News

A case has been registered against the school principal and management in a case where two children were injured due to the falling ceiling of a school in Velachery.

Darshan (6) and Sagana (6) from Madipakkam, who are studying in Class 1 in a private public school in Velachery, Chennai, were eating in the classroom on the 9th afternoon. Then the ball ceiling of the classroom shifted and fell on the children’s heads.

As both of them sustained serious injuries, they were immediately admitted to a private hospital in Pallikarani for treatment. Darshan was treated with three stitches on his head. He is in a stable condition, but Sakana was seriously injured and was treated in the intensive care unit in a critical condition after surgery and is now recovering and undergoing treatment.


In this case, the Velachery Tahsildar conducted an inspection at the school on the 10th while the parents accused the private schools of failing to ensure the quality of the school.

Following this, the Velachery police have registered a case under section 338 against the school principal and the administration, alleging that the accident occurred due to the carelessness of the school staff.
