Islamabad: The Election Commission again rejected the request of the provincial government to postpone the elections in Sindh, the local elections in Karachi, Hyderabad will be held tomorrow.
According to Express News, the Sindh government has written a letter to the Election Commission today demanding that the local body elections should be postponed due to non-availability of security forces.
The letter said that the Secretary Election Commission also participated in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary Sindh, the meeting participants were informed about the security concerns faced by political leaders and workers. The federal government has authorized the deployment of the army and security guards at the polling stations as the situation demands that the presence of the army and security guards should be ensured at the polling stations.

In a letter from the Sindh government, an important meeting of the Election Commission was convened in Islamabad, where, after deliberation, it was decided to hold the second phase of local elections in Sindh on Sunday as per schedule, Hyderabad, Thatta divisions including Karachi. The local body elections will be held on January 15.
